Horsey Regatta is one of the first sailing events on the Broads calendar. David Church is behind the revival of the popular event.
There’s a full schedule of racing with classes for river cruisers, half deckers, dinghies and allcomers. Horsey Mere is one of the largest Broads, and one of the best for sailing. Depending on conditions the course usually takes in a couple of circuits. ‘Roundabout’ single circuit races give different helms a shot at a prizes.
Hire boats are encouraged. Martham Boats is happy to hire half deckers and river cruisers for racing and accomodation.
Entry fees (£10) include mooring on Horsey Village Staithe. Facilities: National Trust-operated loos, showers and a small café.
20-minute walk from the staithe to The Nelson Head, Horsey – a characterful and gloriously located pub that also does good food.
